  • Overview

    The Merchandise Project Coordinator division expert on product design and construction.  Must maintain comprehensive knowledge of current vendors, product lines, product details including drawings, samples and all CAD files. Manages product development projects, timelines, changes and samples.  Communicates with vendors about product issues construction standards. 


    Member of the BDP Committee and communicates product details and information to the committee.  Coordinates retail sales strategy and works with Asset Management to meet goals.  Manages and maintains master product files including price lists, discontinued list and fringe list; and communicates to key stakeholders


    I. Product Development Support


    Coordinates development of products to support CORT’s merchandise and marketing strategies. Executes product development strategy and handles all details related to bringing new products to market. Coordinates resolution of vendor issues development, timelines and samples. Implements strategy based on master phase in/phase out schedule. 

    • Working with the EDPD, maintain a current vendor base that will support our construction and BDP standards
    • Maintain the core line up and phase in/out schedule.  Any special needs will be discussed with the EDPD before specifying.  The goal is to reduce the SKUs and maintain a narrow and deep line up while better servicing our external and internal customers.
    • Maintain master minimum construction standards for the categories and make updates
    • Maintain and manage master product collection development program, including detailed product information by vendor.
    • Responsible for collecting the Parts and repair information for each product and providing it to the repair shop and BDP committee
    • Maintain master product price list for Event and EH and update each year based on new additions. Communicate pricing to sales.
    • Update Discontinued List yearly, based on product strategy
    • Resolve product issues with Asset Management and EDPD.  This would include damaged or poorly constructed product issues.

    II. Support BDP Programs in the Field

    Develop and maintain written communications with EDPD for Ops team that helps in understanding the strategy, educating on vendor’s recommendations for transportation, care, cleaning and storage, and create excitement for the programs.  The goal is to maximize product life cycle and lower repair and transfer costs. 


    III. Support Asset Management and Merchandising

    Execute the merchandise strategies for print and digital materials, including assistance and organization of products for photography and product renderings. Communicate with key stakeholders.     

    • Help evaluate product trends and needs based on inventory reports; communicate to Asset Management and EDPD

    IV. Retail


    Coordinate retail merchandising and marketing programs and implementation. 

    • Administer Retail website and assure that all product information is current and accurate.
    • Communicate monthly retail segment to CORT BDP newsletter

             Other duties may be assigned.


    • Bachelor’s Degree (B.S. or B.A.) or equivalent from four year colleges; or 3-5 years related merchandising and product experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
    • Previous Project Management experience, preferably with furniture.
    • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write blogs, newsletters, reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, vendors, and sales and asset teams.
    • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
    • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.To perform this job successfully, an individual must have strong written skills and be proficient with the Adobe Creative Suite and able to perform edits to digital assets.  
    • Must have expert knowledge of Explorer/Chrome Internet software; Excel Spreadsheet software and MS Word Processing software.
    • Experience with online cloud spreadsheet software programs preferred
